Andrea Slováková has been the new Dean of FAMU (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague) since May 2020. However, her name has been associated with the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival since 2003 – she worked in its leadership for nine years and continues to prepare the section of experimental documentaries for it dramaturgically. In the years 2012-2015 she was the director of the AMU Publishing House. Andrea also continuously devotes herself to theoretical thinking about film: she is the author of the book What’s New in Film Studies, a member of the editorial board of the Dok.revue periodical, the Iluminace film magazine and publishes in magazines such as Kino-Ikon, Cinepur, Kinečko, etc. Last but not least, she is also a director of documentaries that have been screened at international festivals in Marseille, Paris, New Belgrade or Beijing and an author of a collection of poems.
